MA in Applied Linguistics (TESL)

Direct Entry: 
 
Complete the online application and submit the non-refundable application fee.
You will need to submit your transcripts as well as the following program specific materials: 
 
  1. Curriculum Vitae/Résumé: This should include the applicant’s education, employment, publications, teaching and research activities, and other professional experience (e.g., relevant volunteer experience).
  2. A Statement of Intent: ­ a one or two page statement outlining the applicant’s objectives in undertaking graduate studies in Applied Linguistics, the applicant’s academic preparedness for the program, and the applicant’s focus of study in the program
  3. English Language Proficiency Requirement (if applicant's first language is not English): TOEFL 630 PBT/109 IBT, TWE 5.5 and TSE 55 or IELTS 8 and writing band 8.
  4. Applicants may also be required to submit a writing sample

Australia, Canada, England, Ireland, New Zealand, Scotland, USA, Wales  

DALS does not grant language waivers to applicants from other countries but requires them to submit the language score they achieved on one of the language tests listed above.

     1.    Cover letter submitted by the applicant or agency (if applicable)
     2.    Curriculum Vitae/Résumé: This should indicate the applicant’s education, employment, publication, teaching and research activities, and other professional experience.

3. English Language Proficiency scores for Bridged entry route
    TOEFL PBT 550
    TOEFL CBT 213
    TOEFL iBT 80
    IELTS 6.5 and writing band 6.5 (no score under 5.5)
    ITELP 520 with writing of 225 (Brock University’s own language proficiency test.)
