Matt Melnyk

Originally from Toronto, Matt joined the Brock community as an undergraduate student in 2003. In the years that followed he pursued graduate study, was a student staff member and has now been a member of the Recruitment team for over 12 years. As the Director, Student Recruitment, Matt is a member of the senior leadership team in the Office of the Registrar and oversees the office responsible for domestic undergraduate recruitment.

Kara Kelly

My portfolio includes: New recruitment initiatives; Recruitment communications and strategy; Campus and community-based recruitment activities; Lead team members responsible for communications, web development and digital resources, campus events, and campus visit opportunities.

Kara is a proud Brock grad who takes pride in helping to bring the Brock brand to life. Helping prospective students find their passion and to successfully begin their own Brock experience, is a role she never tires of. She enjoys working with faculty and staff members across the University to learn and share all of the elements that make Brock such a special place to be. Most of all, Kara loves the energy and enthusiasm that working with both prospective and current students brings to her day. In her spare time, Kara loves nothing more than to shuttle her kids to their many extra-curricular activities and enjoying time with family.

Courtney Keogh

Born and raised in Alliston, Courtney began her studies at Brock in Sport Management in 2008. She went on to earn her Master of Arts in Applied Health Sciences (Sport Management) in 2014. During her time as a student she worked in Recruitment for three years as a Brock Ambassador. Upon graduation, she was hired as a Recruitment & Liaison Officer and spent time travelling across Ontario to visit high schools to share information about Brock. Courtney has experience in leading the Campus Tours, Group Visits, and Smart Start programs. Now, as Manager of National Recruitment, she works with Recruitment Officers responsible for Market Development and Inclusion, the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts, and Student Conversion and Transition (Smart Start). Courtney is a proud Brock grad and loves working with current students and alumni to share their experiences with the next generation of Brock Badgers! In her spare time, Courtney enjoys cooking, home improvement projects, and training Future Dog Guide, Monet.

Growing up in Windsor, Nick began his Brock experience in 2015 when he moved into residence to begin his degree in Sport Management. Throughout his time at Brock, he was fortunate enough to have multiple on-campus jobs including the Sports Editor of The Brock Press, an Intramural Convener and a Smart Start Team Assistant/Team Lead. Upon graduating, Nick used these experiences on-campus as well as his personal experiences as a Brock student to begin his journey as a Recruitment Officer. Within this role, he is responsible for delivering presentations on the Brock Experience to future Badgers across Canada. In his free time Nick enjoys travelling, cooking, hanging out with friends, and watching sports (especially football).

Born and raised in Ottawa, Daniel started his journey at Brock in 2012. He is a graduate from the Sport Management program and had various experiential education opportunities both on and off campus throughout his undergraduate degree. Daniel has since returned to the classroom to complete his Bachelor of Education in Adult Education. He found a passion for helping students navigate their journey to and in post-secondary. In his current role at Brock, Daniel oversees the Campus Visit Program (campus tours and specialized programing for groups) and the Brock Ambassador team. He enjoys working with students to share their Brock stories and gain meaningful work experience on campus. In his spare time, Daniel enjoys travelling, hiking, practicing yoga, and watching hockey.

Carly was born and raised in St. Catharines and started her journey at Brock in 2011. She is a graduate of the Concurrent Education Program, and has held various student positions on campus throughout her undergraduate degree. She was both a team assistant and team leader for the Smart Start orientation program, was a student ambassador leading many campus tours for prospective students, and represented Brock at recruitment events. Now in her current role at Brock, she enjoys helping students find their passions and meet their educational goals. Carly is responsible for all large on-campus recruitment events and initiatives such as Fall Preview Day, Open House, and other custom recruitment events to target specific audiences such as guidance counsellors and youth. She also focuses on recruitment for prospective students in the Niagara Region. In her spare time, Carly enjoys being active outdoors, baking and spending time with family & friends.

Joseph was born and raised in St. Catharines, and started at Brock in 2004. Throughout his time as a student, he worked at Brock, eventually ending up working in Web Development for clients across the University – including Recruitment and Liaison Services. After graduation, Joe took on his role as Multimedia Web Specialist in the Office of Recruitment in Liaison Services, working on improving the web presence of the office, producing tutorial videos for prospective students, along with graphic and print design. In his spare time, Joe enjoys spending time with his family, drawing and woodworking.

Tanisha was born in Sarnia, Ontario and graduated from Brock’s Dramatic Arts program in 2012. As the world started changing in early 2020 Tanisha decided to take her love of everything tech and switch into web development. Now back at Brock, Tanisha is working closely with multiple teams to help maintain and improve the universities’ website. In their free time Tanisha can be found playing video games, hanging out with their cats and watching anime.

Mike Pratas

Mike is the Recruitment Officer responsible for non-secondary school applicants, including university and college transfer, mature, part-time and first-generation students. He is particularly focused on modern educational pathways and removing barriers for underrepresented communities. Mike also oversees the Department’s community engagement portfolio. He is a graduate of the Political Science program and is currently enrolled in the Master of Business Administration program in the Goodman School of Business.

Born in Toronto, Madison discovered Brock University when searching for schools where she could explore her two passions: arts and sports (yes, there are people who like both). She played on the varsity women’s soccer team while studying Dramatic Arts and performing in shows, thanks to her supportive professors. After finishing her BA, Madison completed the Consecutive Teacher Education program and earned her Bachelor of Education. She moved to London, England for two years and used her degrees to teach, while travelling across Europe in-between. Madison now resides in Hamilton, Ontario with her husband and Puggle. She found her way back to Brock, in a role where she is able to promote the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts and speak to the benefits of pursuing your passions. In her spare time, she enjoys making cakes and has also written a children’s book.

Nate was born and raised in St. Catharines, and began his studies at Brock in 2007. He is a graduate of the Political Science – Public Administration Co-op program, and was first introduced to Brock’s beautiful campus at a young age through playing competitive sports and attending summer camps. In his current role, Nate enjoys getting the chance to speak with future students about their interests and goals, and helping them to get the most out of their undergraduate experience. His portfolio includes working on print and digital communications, coordinating email campaigns, and creating content to promote the University. In his spare time, Nate can be found in front of the television cheering on the Raptors and Lewis Hamilton, in the driveway washing and detailing his car, or everywhere else spending time with friends, family, and his adorable puppy.
